Some links are partner links — this never influences our picks. How we make money
Our method

No scores. No fake #1. Here's how we actually review.

Most "best community platform" lists rank tools by commission. We don't publish ratings at all — because a 4.6/5 hides more than it reveals. The right platform depends on your use case, not on an average.

What we do instead

Every tool gets an award by use case ("Best for: course creators & gamified communities") and — always — a "less suited if": who should NOT pick it. A recommendation you can trust has to include the cases where it's wrong.

The verdict format

Every review ends with this box — never a score:

Best forCourse creators who want a gamified, all-in-one community
Less suited ifYou need advanced email automation or full white-label
In one lineThe simplest way to run a paid community around a course.

How we make money

Some links are partner links: if you subscribe through them we earn a commission, at no cost to you. Tools without partner programs (Mighty Networks, Bettermode, Heartbeat) get equal coverage — with a link to our pick instead of a CTA. The full detail is on our affiliate disclosure page.

Hands-on, re-checked

We test the platforms as community creators ourselves, and re-check pricing and features quarterly and after major product announcements. Pricing shown anywhere on this site is a starting point — always confirm on the vendor's site. Our approach follows Google's guidance on high-quality product reviews: first-hand use, evidence, and both strengths and drawbacks.
